Hi revving 3.9 V8
Reggieroo:
Hi there,
Hopefully somebody can tell me why my V8 Range Rover is revving so hi.
It does it weather on LPG or petrol, sometimes going up to 1500 rpm & then other times running at 600 rpm but mostly stays at 1100 rpm 90% of the time. I've changed the petentiometer for a second hand one, not much different :(
I'm new to Land Rovers & only had this for about a month, couldn't resist adding a 2" lift & 235/85/16 machos on disco one alloys though :D
Just tell me where to take it to get it covered in mud....I'm based in Coventry at the moment.
edy:
there is loads of places for a v8 round coventry, especially with a 2" lift :D
any way back to the problem, does it rev very high constantly or just on start up, not uncomman for them to rev high on start up
Reggieroo:
Hi Edy,
It revs up constantly but every now & then it will rev at the proper revs on start up & stay like that until you switch it off.
Then as soon as you start it up again its high revving again.
Oh by the way were are these places in Coventry then, I haven't even took it off road yet, I want to see what this baby will do.

disco-v8:
sounds like it will be the stepper motor (idle control valve) at the rear of the plenum chamber to me
Range Rover Blues:
When this came up recently I was surprised to learn that the ECU has a trick up it's sleeve, if the battery voltage is low then the ECU steps up the idle speed to give the battery a kick, especially after start up
