What all this Devil Duck craze about? Is there something your all not telling me?

I've asked Santa for a "Road Angel"  to sit on my dash http://www.premierdirect.co.uk/startranew.htm should I ring him up and  change my order to a Duck?

I've got a bunny/mouse (no one can guess what it is) that the boys bought for me shortly after having the landi, couldn't possibly defect and have a duck!

In that case I'll get one, like the look of the Turbo ones, think I'll have to have one of those...

sorry I started it now :)

I've just been perusing your web site Datalas and found this

Quote from: "datalas"

Hello, I believe you sell spare parts for Land Rovers?"
"Yes, we do"
"OK, I need a coil for a 1972 Series 2a Petrol"
"A what?"
"A 1972 Series 2a?"
"Is that a Range Rover"?
"No, it isn't"
"A Discovery?"
"No"
"A Freelander?"
"No"
"It's not one of those other ones is it, what are they called?"
"Defender?"
"Yes, that's it"
"No, it's not one of those either it's for a 1972 Series 2a, it's probably the same as the one listed for a series three"
"1972? Land Rover weren't around in 1972, they were started in the 80's to sell the Range Rover"

That is alomost word for word the same conversation I had when trying to get an insurance quote for a series 3 except the first and third lines where I asked about insurance rather than spare parts.

The last line is an exact carbon copy of what the insurance company said to me, I wished I'd never started the conversation with them.

Apologies for this self-indulgant post...!
« Reply #110 on: December 17, 2004, 09:12:09 »
Hi Folks!   :D

I've received several emails since yesterday from people who've bought Devil Ducks recently that haven't arrived yet...

Rest assured that if I say in my email that I will be despatching on a specific day, then unless something catastrophic happens (and I would always make sure an email was sent somehow or other to advise of a delay!) the Duckie will go out to you as promised.   :)

If your Duckie hasn't arrived within a few days, please try ringing your local sorting office because more often than not, 'missing' items have been returned to the depot without a card being left by the postman.....

If your purchase has definitely not arrived - and Royal Mail insist we allow 2 weeks(!) before making an investigation - I will do all I can to assist in a claim on the certificate of posting.  However, the only way I can guarantee that Royal Mail will pay out in the event of a missing parcel is if it is sent by recorded delivery, which you can select at 'checkout' when you advise/send payment.   :)   Because of obvious delays in delivery at this time of year (I'm still waiting for a cheque that was posted last week!) I can't justify/afford to send replacements ducks after only a few days have passed.  I'm really sorry about that and I know that these Ducks might have been purchased as Christmas presents.  I am an honest seller and I wouldn't jeopardise my 100% postive feedback by not sending goods when I say I will.

I can only suggest that if you buy a Duckie from me and need it in time for Christmas, that you select the 'Recorded Delivery' option.  It may not get to you any faster, but at least we can keep an eye on its whereabouts...

I'm sorry for such a long, self-indulgent post...  It's just that after an email I received late last night accusing me of stealing money and not sending goods (that one wasn't related to a devil duckie, but it did prompt me to write this message!) I thought this would be the best way to let you all know what was going on.   :D

Please do check with your local sorting office if any items haven't arrived within a few days because the chances are if it's not still in transit, it will be there.

Bye for now,

Patsy x

Been browsing at this topic.

What's the score, is it a new craze or something??

On a reasonably similar line, does anyone know where I can get a bonnet mascot like the one on the 'black Mack truck' that Kris Kristofferson drove as Martyn Penwald ('Rubber Duck')
It was the duck with the crest down its back & the cigar in its mouth.

Just of pure interest & nostalgia, of course

Patsy, I am one of those still waiting for delivery (and have emailed you!) but I would, in no way, accuse you of "stealing my money".

Luckily, I suppose, it isn't an xmas present so whenever it turns up is fine. I'll try ringing my local sorting office today or Monday.

Maybe I should order another one, just in case....

Hi Gordon,

Thanks for the reply.   :D  I hope you received my reply to your email?

I'm really sorry if my post made it sound as though I was bothered about receiving emails enquiring whether ducks had been sent - that certainly wasn't the intention.  It was just the sheer number of emails that I've received since yesterday understandably enquiring about the despatch/whereabouts of purchases that made me think it might be a good idea to reassure people that their duckies have been sent.    :)  I've only - thankfully - had one person send me an impolite, accusatory email and it was about a completely different purchase.    It did upset me a bit at the time because any postal delays/postmen not leaving cards to advise of delivery attempts are obviously beyond my control.     Everyone else has been really lovely and polite.   :D   I've already decided to replace any missing ducks out of my own pocket (unfortunately I can't replace the air fresheners because I'm running very low on those) if duckies don't arrive within 2 weeks of being sent because I hate to think of people paying for an item and not receiving it.  I will just have to hope that Royal Mail pays up on the certificate of posting because very few people - myself included! - opt for recorded delivery.

Anyway, good luck with the sorting office...  I really hope your duckie is there or still on its way!  I spent nearly all afternoon trying to get through to my sorting office yesterday when the postman accidentally posted the pad he obtains recorded/special delivery signatures on though my letterbox instead of a card to tell me I had an item of post waiting for me at the depot....!

Bye for now,

Patsy x

Our postie stuck a card thro saying we were to collect from sorting office. Julie went to collect it for me but they 'lost' it

That evening my neighbour gave me a lovely neat parcel with Evil Dick and Air Freshener along with a nice Chrissie card (thanks Patsy).

Postie didnt think to put another card thro telling us that a neighbour had it. ](*,)

As far as I am concerned Patsy is the best.
I ordered my duck on 14th, screwed up the paypal payments which Patsy sorted out, and the duck arrived this morning.
Could not have done better if I had driven up and collected it my self, well done Patsy =D>  =D>
As for the nasty email don't worry, I have been in the service industry for 30 years or more and there are people out there who if you send them something free of charge they complain that there is only one of them and that one is the wrong colour, take no notice.
Have a very merry christmas Patsy.
