Really long M12 bolts !

(1/4) > >>

Jimbo:
In order to fit my (Mill Services) tree bars to the Defender, I need some 200mm long, M12 bolts - the existing bulkhead to chassis bolts are not quite long enough.

Does anyone know where I might get said bolts from ?

I've tried : Ifor Williams spares, Namrick bolts, all the DIY sheds, a local car parts place, Google and many others - none of whom seem to stock anything over 150mm in length.

I did consider using a piece of studding, with a nut on either end - but how do you know if the studding is high-tensile steel ?. I know that HT bolts have 8.8 stamped on the head, but what/where is the marking on studding ?

Thanks

Didn't think stainless was high-tensile - but would love to be proved wrong. As the bolts will be holding the bulkhead to the chassis, don't want to fit the wrong product !

Stainless is not hight tensile. In fact it's nowhere near as strong as that carrot stuff they call 8.8 which I wont use.....

You can buy hightensile studding. My fastener people sell it. In fact any good fastener copmany should be able to supply bolts in that lenght. Look in yellow pages.

Mike,

If you don't use 8.8............what do you use ?
