Pump tweak

--- Quote from: "Budgie" ---The trouble is Alan, how do you know that the star wheel & smoke screw were altered as part of the intercooler upgrade?
It may have only been the diaphram that was altered, as per the instructions that I got with the Allards Intercooler I fitted to mine, and the smoke screw & star wheel could still be in the standard setup positions.
I'd do it one at a time in small increments, starting with the diaphram, and take it for a drive after each alteration to see what it's like.

i dont think there is a standard point or mark on the smoke screw or star wheel , so like you say its difficult. i think there is a std setting on the diaphram though ,think theres a dot on the diaphram somewhere, think like you say move the diaphram first, only 45 deg go from there. good luck. cheers alan.....

--- Quote from: "Range Rover Blues" ---Is there any way of putting it back to standard and starting again? I know Julie's TDi has been tweaked and it goes like a stabbed rat, but it smokes. I've ordered a new big intercooler for it (taking it's time arriving) and I may just fit that and leave well alone :?
I know Diesels are simple but not my familiar territory at all.

worth removing the particulate filter , its ment to help reduce e.g.t and lets the turbo spin up quicker, havent done me red one though . did the blue one seems better both on standard intercoolers . cheers alan.....

Particulate filter?
I take it mean the exhaust catalytic converter (CAT)? Particulate filters are a new form of science, (well to car sized vehicles anyway) and have never been fitted to any LR products. The front box in some TDi exhaust systems is a CAT - not a filter...........
Advice to junk it is good though, made mine go a bit better through some of the rev range, made it a bit louder too unfortunately......

--- Quote from: "Budgie" ---If you want to play then you can use this site as a guide but take note of the warnings and make a note of everything you alter & by how much so you can put it back if doesn't work.

The article here is for a 200TDi, is it the same for a 300TDi?
--- End quote ---
The article is for a Dodge Ram but they use the same pump as the 200 & 300 TDI, unless you have the fly-by-wire throttle version and I don't have any experience with those.
RichardM:
Thanks Budgie, I was going by the years it says its for, rather than the name of the pump, I thought it looked like the same as on my car
