Removing rear prop

(1/2) > >>

Kenny:
Can any one give me some tips on how to remove the rear prop on a 90 to allow access to the Hand brake in order to overhaul it. Looks simple in the book, but like suspension lifts bet its not.

Basically want to get it off and on with as little fuss. Also check the UJ whilst got it off.

Thanks

undo the four nuts with a 14mm spanner (?) at the prop hand brake end - slide the sliding joint in and the prop will drop.

best check for movement in the ujs prior to losening any nuts/bolts.

Kenny:
Just what I thought. Tried to undo one and now it just goes round and round in its housing. Do I need to mark the position of the prop at all?

if its just going round then that isnt right.  you may be wise to grind off the offending bolt unless anybody knows of any other ways to remove it. you will then have to remove the output shaft flange to replace it (i think)

i think that it will only need to be marked if you are splitting the prop itself. but it wont hurt to put a score mark on either end to give you reference marks - i think that it will only go on 2 ways anyway.

Andy the Landy:
I would mark the yoke flange and driving flange so it is still 'in balance' when re-assembled
