Steering wheel wobble
clbarclay:
Swivle bearings produce a V. bad wobble at speeds around 40 to 55 mph but above this range they don't wobble in my experiance. If you can drive at 60 fine then they are the most likely cause, though if 60 is same or worse still then best keep looking.

ever thought about a knackered steering damper ?
u been offroading and not cleaned it yet ?
check for balance weights on the inside of the rim coming detatched, youll see the marks where they used to be, ive torn a few off and now given up on balancing my landy wheels, too much hassle and its a land rover anyway
check the panhard bushes aswel, without engine running get some one to rock the steeringwheel whilst you look for any play
also as mentioned above, bearings and swivles

--- Quote from: "Wonka" ---Now that is strange - I never knew UJ's could manifest as death wobble. Mine is already booked in to have the front UJ's done.
Any reason why this can manifest as death wobble? Intrigued

The only thing I can think of is that the prop being out of balance can create sufficient vibes to effect the front end. But I don't claim to be an engineer! Having said that, once I fixed my UJs the problem went away... so it has to be worth looking at, especially if your UJs are worn anyway.
Rasbo:
replaced the damper recently, have found a very slight leak on the power steering pump but cant see that causing it. Swivel bearings are good replaced last month. Any chance it could be one of the shims? UJ is good replaced a few months ago. Panhard bushes look pretty worn, so could be the prob, i'll replace them when i manage to fit my lift to it.
Thanks for the posts people

now that the swivles have bedded in and slackend off they could possably do with a tweaking down on the thrust washer, just jack a wheel up and see if theres any play
if the panhard bush's are warn then i would say thats half your problem there
