Discovery 2 iPod adaptor
« on: April 25, 2007, 15:26:20 »
Looking for a bit of help/advice.

We have just added a Discovery 2 to our ever expanding list of 4x4 vehicles.
Has anyone fitted a an iPod adaptor to a 2000 Discovery 2 TD5 the vehicle has the Harman kardon sound system with a CD player under the seat.
Thanks in advance

I just bought an FM transmitter which plugs into the cigarette lighter, charges the iPod and transmits to the stereo.  The attraction is it cost 8 quid, including delivery.

I used to have an FM transmitter thingy (iTrip) but got fed up with hearing someones elses music if they were pushing out more power.

Now I use a tape adapter thingy, which goes into the cassette player and plugs into the earphone socket of my ipod, my wifes shuffle and my little bos mp3 player.  Is completely removable and transferrable to anywhere, cost £10 from Currys.

Doesn't look as neat when it's in but who's looking at the ipod when driving?
Sometimes you need to get away from the crowd, the only way to do that, is to get a little mud on the tyres.

If you had an early iTrip they could only use a couple of frequencies.  All the modern ones (including mine above) let you use any FM frequency you want.  I've *never* experienced crosstalk on either of mine.

I had a belkin FM ipod doobery. and it was garbage. loads of static and poor sound quality. Bought a tape adaptor for £1 from the local pound shop. sound quality was loads better but now have a cd player so no ipod in car at the moment. If your stereo has  phono input on the back (most new ones do) you can buy a lead from Maplins etc with a stereo jack one end and a pair of phono plugs on the other.
