Fitting modulars, do I need different wheel nuts?

(1/2) > >>

Iain C:
I'm picking up some part worn Mud Terrain copies on grey modulars this week, so I can go play in the mud.  I have Freestyle alloys at the mo (which I'll keep for long distance road use), do I need different wheel nuts? :?

MuddyMachine:
You should get steel nuts, but the alloy will fit. If you have a steel spare you only get 3 nuts on it, so you can use the alloys.

The dont cost a lot from say paddocks

Range Rover Blues:
On a RRC you get none, so the alloy snuts will do the job but they look cack.

Best to get the aftermarket ones with a blind end, then no muck will wash inside them.

JPJ:
The alloy nuts have a shoulder on them designed to take the depth of the alloy rim. They do fit a modular and they will hold it in place but they look naff. They stick out too far and collect mud.
I got a set of steel nuts, brand new, off eblag, for a good price.

CNorman:
What tyres do you have.

I bought a set of BFgoodrich Muds and i run them on road all the time>

Good tyres, smooth quiet and good handling.
