paul and sam:
my son has left me his disco to do a few jobs for him while he is away says the clutch is a bit iffy. on closer inspection the clutch fluid is muddy brown so changed it. on doing this i noticed that as i opend the bleed nipple on the slave cylinder fluid driped out and when you try to bleed the system the pedal drops to the floor as it should but then the resivior drops fluid and it continues to bleed out of the nipple. does anyone know if this is right or is it the master cylinder [!Expletive Deleted!]! any help would be thankfully recived ..

Les Henson:
If you don't close the bleed nipple, fluid will self-syphon out of the system if the pedal is in the up position.

Les.

paul and sam:
it happens if the pedel is in the up or down position

Lord Shagg-Pyle:
Sounds like a seal has been blown (reminds me of a rude joke about eskimo mechanics, but I won't go there! ) in the master cylinder. It may be as easy to change the whole lump than bu**er about changing the seals.
From what I recall they aren't expensive as Landy bits go.

Range Rover Blues:
Slave cylinder £10 master cylinder £27   from memory
