Tyres and clearance
Gav_T:
Had my discover about 5-6 weeks now and am loving it but i want bigger tyres on it. At the mo i have 225/75/16 bfgoodrich a/t's on which are pretty crap off road.
I have always thought that my car has stood a little taller than a standard one so im just wondering if anyone confirm whether it has been lifted or not, the distance from the floor to the bottom of the wheel arch is 845mm all the way round, and makes the tyres on seem tiny.
One more thing, i have used the tyre size calculator thingy and 245/70/16 tyres are within a nats of my size. Will these fit of to standard steel wheels?
Help and all comments welcome!
Cheers
Gav.

Can no one help?
Im off work at the mo due to back problems and it seems like the ideal time to get new tyres on.

When you say bottom of the wheel arch, I assume you mean the top of the wheel arch. Mine varies from 790mm to 810mm alway round (measured at home and on B&Q car park).
This would suggest yours is lifted as mine is bog standard and smaller. See my photos for details.

I'd sugest 235/85 R16 with a lift of at least 40mm. They will just catch the rear arch but careful trimming of the bits you don't see will allow them to fit standard wheels.

Have you had a look through this site: http://members.shaw.ca/jbarge/tires.html (also in the Tyre Fitting Guide thread at the head of the Disco forum. )
