The centre box on my 200tdi 90 was blowing so I bought a straight through pipe for it.
What a difference, I swear it is much more responsive. I could feel the turbo coming in much earlier. Seemed to have more go. I was keeping up with most of the traffic and they used to leave me behind. I was having to watch my speed , and thats something I'm not used to doing in my 90. All this on a fairly windy day like today was. I used to be able to feel the wind holding me back but not today.
If theres a harder way to do it I`ll find it!!

who told you that?

if that were the case there would be thousands of scoobys/evos/skylines with burnt out valves,
fitting a free flow exhaust to a Turbo car especially if it reduces the back pressure & increases flow is a standard way to get more power out a turbo car

So I guess I don't need to worry then. Just enjoy.

basic engine is if you can get it out faster you can get more in faster,
with a petrol there is the posibility of it to run lean & burn valves but as a diesel is an excess air device it cant really run lean,
a lean running diesel is the most economical one,

Ahhh. I wonder if he has not read my post on there properly, becuase I have 2 90s (which he knows) and the other is a 2.5 petrol. Maybe he thinks I mean that its that one I've put the pipe onto.
If theres a harder way to do it I`ll find it!!

to a degree a petrol with a free flowing exhaust will benefit but on a Na engine the manifold & system need to be tuned to give the best performance available....

I have read elsewhere about this burnt valve thingy now. Seems to be a possibilty, especially when doing heavy towing or other heavy work. Well my 90 does all that so I am concerned I may knack sumat. One of the reasons for putting the pipe on was to gain a bit more for towing and for a bit more oomph off road.
Maybe I'm just being a wet blanket here but I want to get the facts, might consider putting an EGT gauge in so I can monitor it.

Exhaust Gas Temperature.
Uses a thermocouple probe stuck into gas flow and linked to a gauge in the cab.

I'd like to know how lowering the restriction (pressure) causes higher temperatures :?

Anyway, I've been looking at the TDI and I want to know which box I get rid of, is it the cat in the front pipe (it's a RRC) just behind the flexi or is it the box in the centre pipe?

I heard something about these pipes from Paddocks, are they stainless?

How much loader are we talking here? (at the moment the TDI is the quiet one :o ).

The one I got is for a 90 200tdi. It gets rid of the front 2 boxes and leaves you with the rear one. Its hardly any louder. You can just about tell there is a different tone now.

i know its not what u want just yet but how many are interested in an EGt guage?

Have this one in my truck which doubles as a boost guage & is also a data logger
I may also be able to do another type but i need to know how many are interested to see if a group buy is worthwhile,
