Which tyres guys?

(1/2) > >>

newto4:
Hi i am completely new to the world of 4X4 . I have just bought a 96 'p' Disco V8. It has a 2'' lift fitted but has the original alloys with barely legal tyres. I will be using it mainly on road with the occasional bit of green lanning.I am on a limited budget & need to replace the tyres. Any advise on sizes etc, I do not want to modify the bodywork.
I am based near Plymouith in Sunny Devon  so if any of you guys have any second hand wheels/tyres for sale I would be very intersted.

Regards

AbyssDJ:
265/75/16 tyres should be ok to fit straight on with a 2" lift as far as i know... whether you had to trim slightly would probably depend on the tyre, but if you're not doing anything to flex it fully it should be fine i think

stearing lock will turn bigger tho

that depends on the rims - if they're changed, they may have a bigger offset so the lock may be the same or better.

nope, hell get less of a lock with the bigger tyres
they will rub/catch (depending on tread pattern) on the radius arms, so he will need some offset rims ( 8x16 mods or 8 spokes) or fit spacers to regain a decent lock

if your doing road work and just occasional greenlanes then a all-terrain tyre like the bf a/t will work brilliant and also the bf a/t is remarkably good in the mud aswel for a a/t tyre
