Leaky Steering box ?????
Disco-Ron:
Very odd, all of a sudden, my steering box is very wet on the drop arm, nothing above that, so it would appear the bottom seal has gone..... does this mean /recon box? or would a new seal do the job do you think, and also, how hard is it to do with the box in situ..??
TA!
winchman:
Try Lucas stop leak its about £10
Mine leaked , fitted a good used one 4 months later leaked, put the above in , slowed the leak now bought a recon from Paddocks £99 + vat and surcharge £200 but you get £100 back when you send the old one in.
Only one I could find with a 12 month warrenty
Disco-Ron:
Thanks, i'm out playing tomorrow, but i have a pot of new fluid in case it leaks lots, i'm thinking that for the cost of the seal kit, i might try that first....
Cheers!
beast5680:
my 300tdi leaked so i fitted the bottom seal and its been ok now for 14 months :D i did have to buy the whole seal kit though which was about £14 if i recall.
if you do go the seal route then you,ll need hydraulic pullers to get the drop arm off along with a bit of heat, mine needed all of a 10 tonne puller to move it
Disco-Ron:
Yikes, maybe i'll see if i can get the drop arm off first, if not, then i'll just get a recon box.....
