Range Rover Blues:
Ok, you guys must know this one.

I was told that the callipers from a V8 CSW were about the biggest that LR ever fitted and that they ran on vented disks from the RRC.

Given that a fully loaded 110/130 on 750s must take a bit of stopping I'd guess that these would also be pretty good callipers.

Now it looks like the disks are all the same vented rotor as used on the RRC.

So which callipers are the biggest?  I want to make my RRC stop (and my mates Disco 1 stop too) as well as possible.

Are the Defender callipers all single circuit?

Do they use a bigger piston?

Am I barking up the wrong tree :?

I'm thinking of fitting slotted/vented disks to the LSE, that's a case of me driving too fast but on Blue I've got 235/85R16s and it doesn't pull up too well, especially when some nob pulls out in front of me (read underneath  :shock: ) and Tim has a similar problem.

Any advice?

I have a 110 station wagon. Built be Special Vehicles. It has vented discs on the front and solid disc on the rears. I have no idea of the diameter of the discs. What I can tell you is that on 7.50 tyres and overloaded to 3,400kg it stops very well.

All Defenders by EEC law must have a dual braking system. However my callipers are single line. There's a difference between single line and dual circuit.

I can, if I remember, see what part numbers are on the pad box. Would that help ?

It would definitley give me a start yes.

Looking at the Range Rover/defender callipers I have they are the same thing, pitons and castings except that the defender ones are single circuit.  They were only off a 90 though :?

Defenders have to be dual circuit eh, that's good news for me :)

i have a few pairs of spanking new calipers which AFAIK are the big ones BUT they aint vented,if you can get the spacers then you can build up a pair of big vented calipers

Are they dual circuit like gemini said? that would be the muts if they were.
