Some one on the series II club forum has done this with a series II.

There is very little difference between the bodies of a Series II & Defender.  In fact some parts are exactly the same.

Have a scout round there forum.

I'm not sure if you need to join there forum to view posts.
If you PM me with your details I will pass them on the guy who did this.

I'm the one who built a Doublecab 2a the hard way, I started with a 109 Pickup.

As you have a SW already its easy, all you need is a roof, truck cab rear window, Cappings from a pickup to give the curve and mounting for the rear window, tailgate and a bulkhead to fit behind the rear seats. A Weekends work if you have all the bits and a couple of blokes.

Remove the roof complete, the rear sides and the rear door, the cappings will deicide where the bulkhead fits, then you have the position, its just a case of rivets and a bit of jiggling about to make sure it all lines up.

Use sealant to prevent water getting through the seams and paint it. After that its just a case of bolting the rear window on, and the roof.

If you need any more info just ask and I'll try to help. I turned this...

Into this, has a 3/4 canvas on now but you get the idea..
