Dog rough idle

(1/3) > >>

Evilgoat:
After all the fun and games getting her back on the road Rabbit's idle is now dog rough, feels like I'm sat in an old 200TDI landie (ducks for cover)

It almost sounds like 1/2 cylinders arent firing. Timing is bang on, no vac/evhaust leaks, comression is good in all 4 cylinders. Runs perfectly once its off idle its silky smooth, pulls well, no missing or hesitation. Shen its in fast idle as it warms up its fine too.

I'm thinking carb might be out of adjustment or just plain rooted :(

Any ideas?

Whatmot:
have you got the original carb in it? if so, take it out, throw it away and replace it with either a nikki, webber or an su

Evilgoat:
Original carb but its not the same unit as the SJs use.

I really dont have the time, money or inclination to start messing about with the carbs :) Specially as my snorkel setup and evrything around it (breathers etc) will need to be altered too. Rather the OEM worked right again.

Whatmot:
yeah but the vitara carbs are bad aswell. as far as i know, the nikki and webber carbs are straight replacements, the nikki is better for offroading because the webber stalls on hills and sharp bumps. the su carb will need an adaptor, but are a really simple carb and can be fine tuned fairly easily.

Whatmot:
this should work on your vit too (someone correct me if im wrong)
