Biggest tyres on a Series 3?

(1/6) > >>

jonny_hains:
hi,
wondering if anyone could enlighten me what size tyres i can fit on? i currently have 30x9.5R15's on 8 spoke rims but could do with something a little deeper after beeing rescued out of a couple of ruts by a disco and defender with bigger tyres on!! i have got some parabolic springs to put on if that makes any difference.

Any help would be much appreciated as i have not long been at off roading.

TBM:
I'm on 265/75 x 16 which fit and are just covered by the arches. I'm sure you can go bigger though. although may need some minor modification.

CanIBeFrank:
Have 31x10.5xR15 Bronco Rough Riders on mine fit just right, any wider and they would definately need arch extensions. No lock problems. Guess you could go a little bigger? but I'm happy with these.

isn't a lot different from the 265/75 16

If you are considering these sizes make sure you have a salsbury rear axle.

If you go too wide you will not have the weight for the tyre to work, a 109 with 265/75 is only just heavy enough to make the tyre work in bad conditions.

Bob Ajob:
You should consider 750x16 either in xply or radial. These are 31" in diameter, though not as wide being 7.5" across rather than 10". This should also help in working the tyre.

These are two examples, both by General, the first is the cross ply, the second the radial:

Either of these would be fine, and are quite easy to come by either on ebay or other sources. Click on each tyre for more info on the SAG.

For going taller, you could consider 900x16 - 9" wide, 34" tall, though these are hard to come by, and will require some minor bodywork cutting. It can be done to a SWB as it has been done already by a member of the Series 2 Club.[/url]
