Td5 starter motor.

(1/2) > >>

deepender:
I think april fool came early yesterday, ever tried removing a td5 starter motor, spent 2 hours trying to get top bolt out and give up, one for the workshop boys me thinks. :(

Xtremeteam:
TD5 starter is a piece o [throw it]...

Its easier than either of the Tdi's to do along with a V8

Use a 6 inch 3/8s drive wobble extension & ratchet & it will bring the ratchet out just infront of the starter, dont be afraid to jam the top of the ratchet against the chassis & use a bit o pipe as a lever.

PS do it all from underneath

DaveDavies:
Did mine recently, was a swine but got there in the end.

T30CDB:
if you had problems its probably because the two bolts you can see are 13mm and the top one behind you cant see is a 15mm nut. i spent two hours one night with the same problem trying to locate the socket onto the last nut. looked in the morning and saw the problem straight away. 6 inch extension is usefull to get at it. Will probably take you as long to get the topp nut back on. Find someone with small hands and do it from over the wing.
