Engine Cutting Out

(1/2) > >>

Guy90:
On the way back from the Mucky Meet Up the engine kept cutting out. Would be merrily bowling along wheb suddenly no response from the throttle and coasted to a stop. Engine stalls. I then start it again and drive off until it does it again. The time intervals between it happening got progressively longer until after about 20 mins it stopped doing it.

Any ideas?

Water / air / muck in the fuel is a possibility.

A small amount can cause a loss of power / stall, then clear itself with a bit of cranking...  if you stirred some muck up by (for example) standing the vehicle on it's nose, then it might have picked some up.

If you've not done it for a while, would probably be worth draining the tank to make sure there isn't anything untoward in there...   in addition to the nasty diesel stuff I mean
