Rev counter U/S
Cassillis:
1991 200Tdi Rev counter is not working, no great shakes i know, but I'm about to take the dash out to free off the blower motor. Was wondering if i may be able to fix it whilst i had the binnacle off. Anyone got any ideas please.
petergalileo:
This is normally due to the rubbish connections at the back of the alternator but if it does turn out to be the instrument panel you should just be able to purchase the revcounter. If you are going to replace the whole instrument cluster be aware there are actually 3 different types fitted to early discoveries all with very minor differences mainly due to different warning light variations.

Greame,
When you have done your heater you can come up 'ere & do mine if you like
floyd fan:
On your alternator you will see a single black/white wire, unclip and clean it or better still replace the crappy LR connector with a good one.
cardiff_gareth:
The technical name for the connector on the alternator is the 'W' connector, usually gets filled up with cr*p and then decides to stop working, small wire brush, not too stiff and a quick clean and job done, 30 second job, its not to bad to get to neither
