When refuelling, do you...

SimonHarwood:
I usually wait until the light comes on, but if I am going on a specific journey (unless I have more than 3/4 tank) I fill up on the day or the day before.

I am not convinced that my fuel gauge is that accurate anyway. After filling up it is off the top of the scale and it is still going after the reading is off the bottom of the red. (I don't usually let it get that low though.)

CaptainColourful:
HWMBO drives mine (oops hers    ) all week and I get the pleasure of sticking £30 or so of my hard earned into the tank when she mentions it's "getting a bit low"
I did top up the night before the budget ... it was scarey to see how long it took to fill to the brim... then I remembered to turn the engine off  :!:
As it turned out for once the petrol prices didn't go up at 6pm that night ...Duh

hobbit:
Unless I'm doing a job, (when I fill up before I go out and again when I get back)...If I spot it in time on a quarter of a tank is as low as I like to go

Running on a low tank is something I dont like doing really, you can get  condensation in the air gap, which can lead to an accumulation of water in tank

andycwb:
For the everyday car, I tend to fill up when I'm in dnager of the light coming on, or before going on a long run.

After 5 years with a duel fuel car, I also have to remember that i can't just hit a switch when it runs out of fuel any more (and also to put DIESEL in the tank).

I fill the Dakar up each time I take it out, since I don't trust the fuel gauge on it.

Stormin:
The light on my 90 starts flashing when the gauge reads half full. Round corners, up and down hill, over bumps and in holes. Given the state of the roads up here,    that's most of the time anyway. If the gauge reads empty, there's still about 3 gallon in there.
