What should I grab?
SnakeLogic:
My local dealer is moving his workshop to a different location, and there's a Disco (Auto,97 Tdi) that's not going with him. He's offered to let me pull whatever I want off it (I've got a 95 Tdi (automatic)) before he junks it, so I'm asking opinions about what I should grab off it.
I've already decided to change the front seats out (nicer than mine) and I'll grab the water pump as well. I've already got a spare set of wheels. Any other ideas about what I ought to get while the gettin's good?
wing nut:
take the whole car if he doesnt want it ,then you have spare panels and running gear(things like diffs and axels are always handy to keep as spare)
SnakeLogic:
Well, I forgot to mention that my wife would KILL me if I had a junked Disco towed to the house. Not "kill" as in "be upset with" but more like "suffocate with a pillow".
Seriously though, not an option. More like bits that I'm likely to have to replace at some point, but not the whole vehicle.
hobbit:
Diffs, wheel hubs all round, pro shafts, gear/tranfer box (if you have somewhere to store them), all the electronic/wlwctric arts you can strip out the inside (motors/relays/modules), all the locks and keys, steering box, rad & intercooler, all the lights, decide what you can store and unbolt, then go to town on it, or see if you can get somewhere to store it :D
gtomo2:
Grab anything electrical. As these are normally dear to replace. and silly little things like door trim dash trim etc stuff that can be broken easy so you have replacments at hand. If he has the keys go for the ign barrel and steering lock. Bumpers if they will fit so when you bend your off roading you have a spare thast the sort of things i would go for. Just think of the things you have replaced more that once on yours and grab them off the donner one.
