--- Quote from: "abyssdj" ---on the subject of not indicating, we followed a police estate the other day at about 25ish mph down EVERY road including the 50mph straights, and he didnt indicate on a single corner or island. really makes you feel stupid that!

The other week on my way back from Abergavenny I had the pleasure of witnessing the wonderful driving of a couple of police officers. Due to it being dark at the time, didn't realise at first they were police. Making my way down the road at 60mph(ish... oops) I notice a car right up my backside. Coming onto an extremely short straight they boot it, and fly past. Turns out to be a dark coloured Volvo estate with cages in the back and enough aerials on the roof to make NASA proud, quite obviously an "unmarked" car. Then I notice another car behind, which again at the earliest opportunity flies past, this time it's one of the proper dayglo jobs.

Did consider the option of ringing the local station and reporting the driving, but then had a vision in my head of the resulting discussion on the radios...

Control: We've just recieved a complaint from a driver you overtook, quite clearly breaking the speed limit.

Car1: Ok, we're sorry, won't happen again.

Car2: The only vehicle we've passed recently was that Discovery...

Car1: Right, well we'll just pull over and wait for him to thank him for his concern!

Decided not to bother :P

AbyssDJ:
yeah probably not a bad idea! we had a similar thing happen to us a while back... marked police car caning it down a silent (other than us) dual carriageway road at about 3am.... stopped for red lights, then nailed it again. must have been doing 100+

Rich_P:
But in both cases, you had no idea what they may have been doing... Pursuits don't always mean blues and twos!

dont try to justify it ;)

narked:
If they don't have blues on then they shouldn't be breaking speed limits etc (says me who may have been a fraction over the limit). If they wanted me to know they were on urgent police business, and give me the opportunity to get out of the way, then they'd have put the lights on. There was nothing ahead of me, the roads were dead. Think it was more a case of killing some boredom by having a race back to the station.

Plus there was nothing in any of the local rags, and these are the papers that tend to have stories with headlines like "Welcome mat stolen from Spar".
