Whoo hoo picked up my new toy!
« on: March 20, 2007, 17:51:15 »
Picked up my Disco last weekend and I have to say I am chuffed to bits with it! As a company car driver I am not allowed to put a towbar on my Bora, so the plan was to get a cheapish second car that I could get excited about to tow my sailing dinghies with. As an ex-109" S3 owner I thought that a Disco would be a laugh, could do some off roading in it, and also with a bit of conversion I can sleep in the back which would save a few quid or pitching a tent for a night at a weekend sailing event.

So I bought this, it's just had an entire new boot floor (side panels too) welded in and the chassis and sills seem to be absolutly fine. 300TDi, ex-farmers motor with 155k on the clock but she goes really well. I spent last weekend sorting some things out (which I knew about already) like replacing front prop UJs (so much quieter now!) a broken indicator and quarterlight, and some servicey stuff, I still need to change all the oils and I have a cambelt kit ready to go on just to be sure.

Longer term plans involve a fold away camp bed, 2" lift, bigger tyres, rocksliders, snorkel and winch. Problem is, that lot will cost me more than I paid for the vehicle, 'cos I got this for the princeley sum of £1300!!!

Cannot wait for it's first play day!

1995 Discovery 300 Tdi...steering guard, diff guards, +2" full lift kit/ProComp 9000s, extended braided brake hoses, 265/75/16 MTs on Freestyles, Camel Cut, Team ME4 CB, Southdown snorkel, Defender A-bar and Wipac 4x4s, Forte treatment in anything that moves and a shiny new boot floor!
