Thanks for that. It'll come in very useful. erm let me think £55 +vat for the "proper" socket, OR £0.55 for a connector block strip OOOOH that'll be a difficult decision.

Range Rover Blues:
If you cut the original socket off the wiring loom I sugggest soldered joints and heatshrink tubing for permenancy or crimp connectors for ease.

For exposed wiring I tend to go for crimped connectors followed by heatshrink tubing

But for this job as its dry and nothing can disturb the wiring. it'll be connector strips split in 2 and placed inside terminal boxes

The sockets already fitted to the door and I've run the wire up the corrugated tube that carries the wiring for the central locking. 30minutes job well done.

Ay'e mate . . . . but don't forget it's still a Land Rover . . . . and they can get into some of the most unhospitable of places . . . .  :)

I know but the wiring connection is inside the O/S rear quarter about 3" higher than the rear light cluster if the water gets that high. damp trailer electrics will be the least of my problems. And if you seal the terminal box with silicone nothing will get past it.
