rear quarter panel removal
redhand:
Does anyone know how to remove the covers from the rear corners of a Disco 1? I'm referring to the metal covers that fit over the body and hold the indicators and on the passenger side the rear washer jet.
There is a line of screws down the inside edge visible when the rear door is open. But what else holds them on. I want to get behind them to check for tin worm. I'm sure they're real rust magnets.
AbyssDJ:
big hammer. i cant offer a sensible reply because to be honest im not sure what you're looking at - im not too familiar with discos! if nobody else replies beforehand, ill have a look on my mums 200 tomorrow

instead of just removing the corner panel because it's rivetted on the outer side, back door being other side, if you remove the inner trim you will see a number of nuts i believe 10mm, undo all of these, it also has fixings in the inner arch, the actual top of the wing is stuck in place, careful when removing wing, you don't want to flex it too much, you may break the window, speaking from experience.
hope this helps. pegleg66

Thanks for that have been told the same by another forum member I was hoping that just the corner piece would come off and not the full side of the car.

Removing the qtr is quite straightforward, if a little fiddly. I don't even take the bumper off. (The painter's heart is in his mouth when I refit tho).
Why did you want to take the corner off? If it's to replace the rear body crossmember, you'll have to manage without.
