i have got to change the diff seals on my disco and my brother in laws defender and just wondered if there are any speicel tools or any tips i need before i start as i would hate to start somthing and realise halfway through that i need to buy somthing else.

also what is the going rate for diff seals just so i dont go and buy them at over the odds prices or even better can anyone advise a good place to get them?

many thanks

windowlicker:
thats good as i thought i found the seals on paddock for 98p plus vat but my bro in law saw some in an offroad magazine for £67 front and £58 rear so i was thinking i found the wrong ones

are they an easy fix as i am guessing that when i get the prop off there is some sort of nut holding the shaft in the diff?

solihull-mick:
Just remove the prop, remove the flange nut and flange, pry out the old seal, knock the new one in, refit flange and nut, job done

windowlicker:
cheers lads
one more thing i was told my disco was fitted with newer axles but i was not told what they came from are all diff seals the same or would i need to find out what it came off? if so how
