TD5 engine flat spot

(1/2) > >>

Alex.Y:
can anybody shed any light on this,
I have recently moved onto a TD5 from  300TDI, the old 300 would pull like a trojan and sit on the dual carriageway nicely at 80mph and still have enough for overtaking. The TD5 however is a different kettle of fish, it still pulls ok but on the open road its great in the lower gears but in fith it seems to top end at about 60mph, if i try and push it a little more th engine will hit a real flat spot and i get nothing more out of the old girl above 65-70 mph.

does anybody else have this with the TD5?

any answers would be much appreciated

Sounds like something is up i had 90 out of a td5 90 on the motorway and it was easily pulling 80.

No, don't chip it yet - there's something wrong with it. Mine's done 84k and still pulls well from 70........(and it's in standard tune at the mo)

Maybe EGR valve is playing silly beggars ?

Do you get lots of smoke when giving it the boot ?

Does it pull ok at lower speeds ?

Maybe the intercooler hoses are collapsing down on themselves ? (think this would show up at lower speeds as well)

Whats the mileage on your truck ?
