Firstly let me admit that I haven't listened to the actual iunterview, since I don't want to adversly affect my blood pressure, however I have heard various quotes.

One of the arguments that I believe was launched against mr clarkson, in lew  of his discovery 3 antics was "what would you do if you met a rambler when driving up that hill ?" .   Isn't the answer to that one "wonder why the rambler is trespassing on private property" ?

since it's private land the rambler had no more right to get under JC's wheels than he has to set up a biviwac in my kitchen :)

Wanderer:
The argument was lost in the first 5 seconds.
We ought to make the guy an honorary member of Mudclub. He did more to further our cause in a matter of seconds.

Fitz:
Was interesting to hear ramblers saying that the 4x4's shouldn't be on the paths.

They have footpaths.  1000's of miles of them.  Why do they need to walk on BOATs and RUPPs anyway?   They should expect to see vehicles.

As for horeses!!  They do more damage to a muddy track than a 4x4 at times.  Ever tried walking down a well used bridal path without breaking an ankle?

How many horse riders stop to pick up the turds - NONE :!:  (hopefully SWMBO wont see this post as she owns a horse and would probably try to defend the action of leaving horse poo on the highway)

Agree that Clarkson should be made Honorary Member :D

muddyweb:
Not strictly true.  I many areas, where horses pass through residential areas they are required to clear up after themselves, and usually do.

Without wanting to get into a graphic description, horse manure isn't quite the same as dog either...  due to being made up mostly of grass, it disappears quite quickly, and in many respects is "cleaner".

Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending having large piles of horse manure all over the roads... it is messy and slippery.    But where I live, it's just another shade of muck on the roads ;-)
