My starter motor's gone again.

(1/1)

I had a new starter fitted in December last year and now i need another one  Its on a transit diesel engine. Do starter motors generally burnout quickly on the series? I have used it offroad a few times.

Sometimes the bellhousing can get filled with mud . Then the new starter sucks it in every time the mud gets wet again . I have seen this happen with a 2 1/4 and a bloke who went through several new starters before finding the cause .

I find that it needs cleaning out about every 6 months.  A wading plug helps though

I've had the same on my tranny engined series 3, took it back as it was still under warranty.
