Thinking of having or doing a hybrid or series III are they good off road. Whats the best too go for.

what do you mean hybrid,
theres lots of ways landy's can be grafted together :D

Why?  If you want coils, why not get a 90 or 110 or Disco or Range Rover?

I had a series III 88 inch 2 1/4 petrol before and it was better than my 90 or disco it had more about it.
How do they cope power wise etc never took my off road

the 2 1/4 cant pull the skin off a rice pudding, not like the V8 8)

im not shure bout mpg :roll:  you could gas con it, cope with water quite well, and have a hell of a lot of toque (if tuned right)

If you are worried about the answer to that question you dont want a v8!

I get 12mpg-ish out of my 101 so that is probably worst case for a landy 3.5v8. you should get a touch more out of a series v8 but not very much!

Don't bother with coils under a Series, get some gone2far suspension instead, you've have much better articulation!!

Depends what V8.  I'll assume you're talking about the Buick derived Rover V8.  The Rover V8 was produced in 3.5, 3.9, 4.0 (same crank and bore as 3.9 but different heads), 4.2, and finally 4.6 Litre formats for various Land Rover products.

The 3.5 Litre came in two setups, low compression and high compression.  High comp engines produce 140+bhp and 170+lb/ft torque.  Fuel consumption is very similar if not better than the 2.25 Litre Petrol, but this is at the cost of not having the same "multi-fuel" capabilities that the 2.25 Litre Petrol has (although in the UK this isn't an issue).

In an 88-inch, the 2.25 Petrol will give 15-20mpg typically when being driven light footed.  The 3.5 Litre High Compression Rover V8 on carbs in the same vehicle would likely return 20-25mpg.

The Rover V8 is a lot less tolerant of water too, when compared to the 2.25 Litre Petrol.  This I believe is largely down to the fact that the distributor on the Rover V8 is at the front, just behind where normally the fan is located and as such it can often get soaked by water if the fan is operating and is partially submerged.

power= enough
water= no probs so longs as your not stupid
mpg= dont know, but its not alot.
