They will be just as seucre as they are in the back of a RR if you use the locking mechanism too.

Yes I think the locking mechanism would be required and that might be tricky I fear.

Not if you have enough space, the locking mech is fitted inside a metal box that simply bolts in place, so transfer that box.......
