My only concern is that the seats hinged at the front and hence don't seem to be securely fastened at the rear allowing them potentially tip forward in a steep descent and hence may not be allowed in competition. Or have I missed something?

They will be just as seucre as they are in the back of a RR if you use the locking mechanism too.

Yes I think the locking mechanism would be required and that might be tricky I fear.

Not if you have enough space, the locking mech is fitted inside a metal box that simply bolts in place, so transfer that box.......
