Haynes Manuals

07DefenderSeb:
Does anyone think there is a better manual for an amateur mechanic than the Haynes books for a Defender (post 2000)?

There are 3 Haynes manuals on Defenders. Is "You & Your Land Rover Ninety, One Ten & Defender" any good?

Other than LR workshop manuals, is there an other option?    :D

Eeyore:
Yes- the proper workshop manual!

The Haynes books can be a good start, but having the workshop manual to hand I've always found a bonus (when I've had access to it). They were about 50 squid at one point, but are now available on CD for significantly less cost (if you've the right vehicle!)

Out of the Haynes books themselves, the LR 90, 110 and Def book is most usefull, but less of a coffee table read! Again though, it depends if your year of vehicle is featured, so it's worth checking!

Thanks Eeyore,

I'm conscious of the year of manufacture issue, but was thinking that they would be good background learning. I'll try to get a workshop manual for it when it's available if it doesn't cost the earth

If its the same basis as Range rover version it is a very interesting read.  As a manual it is no good at all, more a vehicle biography
