This time last Saturday a mere TD sat beneath the bonnet. 1 week on and it's now.....Tdi Powered!

I've been out laning in it today as a 'shake down' and so far, so so good. Except the temperature gauge...

Does the Td run cooler than the Tdi? I found that despite swapping the TD sender into the Tdi it now reads a lot hotter. At first I thought it was an airlock and that the car was overheating but it stayed steady at the end of the white line. I then surmised that because the bottom hose was cold the thermostat was stuck shut. I removed it but then it didn't get off cold. My current line of thinking is that the Tdi must run a bit hotter hence why my TD gauge is reading high. Does this make sense?

Help, please!

Simon

u have a disco engine fitted?

the sender unit is totaly different, & reads miles out, mine did that when i fitted it

Bob696:
Don't know about the TD but the NA has an 82 degree thermostate whilst the Tdi has an 88.

If I run mine with 88 (its all original Tdi but with new sender and guage) then it runs at the top of the white. I run it with an 82 now and it runs smack in the middle unless I am working it hard. My m8s 200 is exactly the same.

Cheers guys. I'll get a new stat. I ran it home long the A1 last night and I don't think the stat even opened. Put it this way, the water in the reservoir was cold. Having said, I guess it is a brand new radiator so it may be that it's just very efficient at it's job!

Pleased to see you got it "finished" in time to get away.

Shout if you need any more help.
