help on what to buy

hi there some time ago i had a suzuki sj 410 which was great fun and easy to mod and fix. I now fancy getting another 4x4 for fun but dont know what to get between the old sj or the vitara (how easy are Vitaras to mod and fix)

any help  would be great.
