wheel nuts

jjsaul:
Alloy wheel nuts AFAIK have the 'shaft' within the wheel...steel nuts dont.

I want a set of locking nuts for my alloys but apparently no one makes them to fit (i asked the bloke at the compomotive place)

Can i use a set of steel wheel locking nuts, which dont have the shafts, just a taper on the face of the alloy?

Obviously i've still got 4 'proper' nuts per wheel holding it on....

clbarclay:
I don't know who made them but obviously someone makes locking wheelnuts for alloys cos 2 came on my V8 rangie with no removal key :x .

they make them for standard LR/RRC alloys but not for the alloys ive got (aftermarket dragon alloys)

There was an engineering company somewhere in this area IIRC who made custom wheel nuts. They had a small stand at the last billing I went to (2004 i think) and my mate bought some off them for some strange alloys he had just bought. I did have their card but i cant find it now.

Edge:
Halfrauds do all sorts of sizes of alloy locking nuts. Just make sure you speak to the guy from the wheel department and not the manager   (managers are renowned for knowing jack all when it comes to their own halfords products).
I would strongly recommend you dont use steel nuts on alloy wheels
