just got myself a 96 grand cherikee i have a few little problems
when you drive it it pulls to the pasingerside slightley i know its on a steering box and that can be adjusted its got a weep from the box  is there anything else it could be

the springs are fine i think it going to be the stearing box wants the new seal and ajusting up pick it up next week so will get the tracking and wheels checked

Fraid so !

Its quite common for the centre diff on the permanent FWD Grand to sieze causing transission wind-up. The camber in the road is enough to make it constantly pull to one side.

Hopefully your problem will be a lot simpler, tight unit bearing or a dragging caliper. It almost certainly isnt your steering box so dont get too giddy cause the leaks gone.

I dont know how fixable the centre diff is. The customers Ive known with this issue have moved the vehicle on  :wink:

its not a constant pull it just as you drive down the road you just have to make a little correction it drives fine apart from that

just been weeping onto my keyboard on reading miks last posting about seized centre diff :cry:   my grand has always pulled a bit to the left ,but not so much on a level surface.have read somewhere that g.c's 'just do that' and isnt such a problem.The previous owner was told the same by an ex-dealership in rossendale.
I was just getting to like my jeep as well...

I thought they had viscous couplers rather than centre diffs? (feel free to correct me!)

The petrol ZJ/ZG ('93-'98 ) has an NP242, which has a centre difflock when in part time 4wd. The newer WJ/WG ('99-'04) has an NP247 which does indeed have a viscous coupling.
