HICLONES
thermidorthelobster:
I've heard the purists argue that if you look at the theory of how they work, they should make no measurable difference, but I've also heard people who have spent money on them say that they do.
Trouble is, performance is so subjective... we all know the feeling when you've just washed the car and it seems to run so much better :)
I'd be interested to see a decent dynamometer test before and after; the trouble is, if you've just spent 60 quid on something, you're going to naturally be looking for improvement even if there isn't any.
MudRat:
bought them 2nd hand for £20, so thats why theres no instructions.
karlo:
They only list 2 fitted to a disco anyway http://www.hiclone.co.uk/how_to_fit/index.htm#c
birdy:
A FRIEND OF MINE FITTED A HICONE IN A DISCO 200 AND RAN IT ON A DYNO. AND THE RESULTS WERE !
MADE NO DIFFERENCE AT ALL IN HIS OPINION A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY!!!
Ralph:
Save your time and leave them out! you got to ask yourself why would you put one before the intercooler??? they are supposed to swirl the air going into the intake manifold, cant imagine it doing much swirling after its been through an intercooler!!! They list 2 cos they say that if you put them together just before the intake manifold you get more swirl than 1.
The theory is ok if they were in one pipe going direct to one cylinder but its not, all that swirling air goes into the inlet manifold and then has to turn a 90 degree bend and then sspilt into 4 inlets through the ports and past the valves still swirling? i dont think so.
You have got to hand it to them though they have made enough money from them!!!!! and it appears that there are still people willing to buy them.
You would get more of a performance boost if you pumped your tires up 1psi than you would with a hiclone lol
