Disco 300tdi rear prop problems.

(1/3) > >>

Defender:
Appologies if this subject has already been covered.
My mate phoned me to ask my advice about what to do about his rear prop. You know the one. The one with the stupid rubber coupling at the diff end instead of the universal joint.
The usual thing has happened again & the rubber coupling has collapsed & my mate is getting sick of replacing it.
Does anyone know how to change the coupling for a UJ  :?:  Or can you change the complete prop for one off a different Land Rover :?:

ChrisW:
I believe it's as simple as removing the 3 bolt prop flange off the diff and replacing for a 4 bolt prop flange and fitting a 200 Disco prop.
Hardest part I think is getting the peg out of the 3 bolt flange.

Defender:
Thanks Chris, I'll let him know. :)

This is correct, they can be a bit of a b*****d to remove

gords:
But is it actually a step forward or backward? Someone must have thought the rubber thing was a good idea (over a uj)?
