which way?
« on: February 12, 2007, 21:05:39 »
my V8 is running sweet as a nut aprt from one thing, it pre ignitioning, ie switch the key off and it keeps running for a second or two afterward.
i assume this is because the timing is too far advanced. so, which way do i turn the little adjusting screw on the dizzy to retard the timing a little.

thanks peeps.

You have a screw for that? lucky so and so.  IIRC turning it clockwise when looking from the outside shortens the vac advance tie-bar and advances the timing, so turn counter clockwise or use a fuel additive.

Might also be worth a de-coke.

only done 1000miles since rebuild

i set the timing up by ear/feel, and now the engine has run-in, i think its time for a tune up.
