Even teachers are 4x4 bashing now!!

--- Quote ---In what way? My dad was a teacher for 35 years and had to put up with a lot of sh*t! Kids were being stabbed with forks and other eating implements and even the police could do nothing, in fact when they showed up the kids over turned their vehicles. And as mentioned, he only had to say boo to a kid to have them remark  "My dad's bigger than you and he will kick you ass!"

So how exactly do you expect them to teach under those conditions? I have a lot of respect for teachers cos they really do have to teach some utter %^£& heads ....... and they do the best they can in the crappest of circumstances...... parents should back them up and not attack them.

thats exactly what im talking about - teachers (and the police!) need more power to sort someone out and put them in their place. i too have a lot of respect for teachers, whether they're the sour faced snobby type or the perfectly down to earth type.

there's no way a person can learn in school with the kind of crap that goes on in and out of classes, its just not possible. kids know that the teachers (and police...) cant do a thing, and they exploit it.

however at the same time, theres a lot of interference with home life that comes from school and teachers, although thats usually with the younger kids. dont ask for an example though, i dont listen to my mothers babbling that much to remember ;) school is school, home is home... should really be kept that way

--- Quote ---the reason i didnt get on with a lot of teachers is because i like to do things my way, express my views, tell things how i see them and not mince my words etc etc. its not just teachers that i have a problem with, its people Wink some people can accept lets say "stronger or less influenced personalities", although thats really the wrong wording, and some cant accept it.

Ohhhh ...the loud mouth smart alec who sits at the back of the class disrupting lessons for sport whilst destroying the learning enviroment of the others in the class  :P  Yeah got some of those at my school. The thing they hate the most is being ignored.

Oh and back to the original topic.

It should be noted that TES is the "Times Educational Supplement" and as such not all posters are teachers just readers of The Times newspaper.

Right then, as a year 10 student myself, I thought I'd bring another angle to this "discussion".  :D

Nowadays, teachers really don't have any methods of controlling the pupils. Period. If some snot-nosed little git does something wrong, it'll be put on his/her permanent record and the kid might get sent home for a week. If they've got this far, then it's obvious that they don't care what goes on their permanent record anyway, so a week later the kid comes back for a day before being sent home again.

This means that teachers have to take a new approach to punishment if they want it to work. For a start, before the teacher even starts their first lesson, they must earn the class's respect. This is so important because when the rest of the class sees the teacher punishing a kid at a later date, they need to see that what the teacher is doing is right, and what the kid did was wrong.

Discuss.  :)

If you want to discuss it I suggest you come back after school and we can discuss it then. OK, on with the lesson.

I agree RESPECT is the big word today...... Not in the respect your elders etc way but in the way that alot of people today don't have any respect for anything or anyone........!!!! Not just in the teachers and kids way but in all and everyway no-one shows anyone any its like a dirty word. And you certainly can't expect respect unless your showing respect.
