Axle filling tip

(1/2) > >>

Bob Ajob:
Hi all,

Finished swapping diffs etc, have finally now filled with EP90 again. I have found a good way of filling up your diffs. The EP90 that came out was clean and very fresh after not being in there long, so I had stored it in a 2 litre coke bottle. This bottle was then just right to pour back into the side filling hole on the diff.

This is much easier than a jug as my Bro did on the rear axle!!

Rob.

ian_s:
axles take oil?
uh oh!

Bob Ajob:
Apparently the steering box does too, not that I've ever seen it...

ed209:
I've tried to avoid using oil it makes everything greasey to touch?

thermidorthelobster:
Oil is essential in Land Rovers.  The vehicle is carefully engineered so a fine dribble of oil is slowly leaked out of all moving parts.  This helps stop the outsides of the parts from rusting.

At least, I assume that's what it's used for.
