Bad driving in the snow

<< < (2/3) > >>

strapping young lad:
i think the truckers do that blocking thing so that the congestion of two into one can even out as they are stopping more traffic converging.

driftwood:
if you drive too slow when then the snow starts, then your tyres  compress it and makes it slippy, if people drove a bit faster ( within the common sense boundry!) then the design of tyres throw the snow to the side of the road and watta you know the roads are better to drive..

barnhill4x4:
I have never understood the logic in blocking a lane when there is congestion. If I was a copper I would book the lot!
Dual carriageway, 2 lanes used: 2 miles of traffic on a mile of road, 1 lane used: 2 miles of traffic on 2 miles of road. All the junctions in that extra mile are now blocked and peopl that want to leave at that junction no have to sit and wait all because some moron in a truck/van think they are clever.
What I think is clever is getting in front of them and stopping, that does the trick!

No logic in that, there is always going to be a merge point, whether its the one at the front of the queue or the one they created.
THe people that do it are thoughtless idiots and deserve a ticket. Why make the congestion loger than it needs to be? THere is a road near me where truckers do this all the time, it causes 2 roundabouts to block up further back so then it affects other people not even going down the road with the roadworks on, effectivly bringing the town to a standstill for everyone

Garin:
After doing a delivery in Maidstone Thurs morning I wasn't looking forward to getting to the next drop at Barking in the morning rush hour with snow about, did it in record time less than 2 inches of snow made most people keep of the roads no queue at the Dartford crossing sailed right through in less than 45 mins
