Tracking / steering
mike142sl:
The steering on my TD5 is slightly out. The dealer assured me that the tracking had been checked but as I drive I am having to hold the steering wheel very slightly to the right to keep straight. If I let go of the wheel it (the wheel) straightens up and the car slowly moves to the left.
It's booked in with the dealer again as I noticed it on the test drive and asked for it to be fixed, however it would be interesting to know what may be causing it (ignoring the obvious that they didn't actually do anything to the tracking), so if anyone has any thoughts it would be useful to go armed with a bit of knowledge so that the dealer thinks I might know what I'm talking about - they hate that :)

One possibility could be if one tyre is softer than the other it can make quite a differeance causing the vehicle to pull to one side.
Ralph:
Tyre wear can cause this problem swap tyres and problem will more than likly go away
Pete:
Road camber??

But definitely not the tracking, the front end is a live beam axle, so it's not the same as driving a car.
