Accepting payment - safest method ?

<< < (2/6) > >>

strapping young lad:
yeh bankers draft and ask for his children as security until the money clears ;)

Lord Shagg-Pyle:
Cash would be good, but check the notes aren't dodgy. Could be embarrasing taking it to the bank!
There are a lot of bent Scottish notes going round at the moment.

Edge:
Someone bought my celica off me via bankers draft.... we both went to my bank to pay into my account and i asked cashier would funds clear immediately "she said no & bankers draft could still be cancelled by buyer in the next few days".
I refused to accept the draft and buyer instantly took me to a branch of his bank and they cashed it for him there and then (he had lots of ID).

I would never accept a bankers draft now..... "Cash Only"
Bulli will be along later.... he can advise better than me.

thermidorthelobster:
Careful!  Bankers' drafts CAN be revoked after they've cleared, even several weeks later, if they turned out to be fraudulent or stolen.  Some banks claim this isn't the case, but if they say that, get it in writing signed by the manager, cos it's your money at risk.

Cash is gonna be best.

att:
Always check the cash.
Ask for fifty`s not as many forgeries about.
Avoid scottish like the plague, lot`s of forgeries at the mo`.
If you ask the bank for a pen to detect forgeries, they should give you one free of charge.
You can do a bank transfer via phone in real time, you can then call your bank to check the funds have cleared in real time.....Very good method for large transactions.
