V8 auto in to a Series
ed209:
Anyone fitted a V8 (carb) auto in to a series 2a?
James.Harwood:
Are you sticking with the original gearbox, if so it is a adaptor for the bell housing and you need to change the engine mounts slightly. If you are fitting with the auto gearbox, you may have problems with the gearbox mounts, transmittion tunnel, propshaft lengths, front axle (uj's wont like permanent 4 wheel drive) will need an oil cooler for the gear box and insurance will be expensive, just off the top of my head.
Did i mention eather way the car's will need regular balancing unless they are in A1 condition.
If you have a landrover back axle you need to carry spare halfshafts because they will break at some point, if Salsbury axle you will be ok (they can take a lot more than a 3.5V8 on carb's can produce).
MattW:
Why do you want to change a Series into something that it's not? It's a lot of hastle.
You'r better off getting an old Defender or a v8 Range Rover?
