Whats the best derv engine?

Fuddy as muck:
I'v got the chance of buying a series 2a for £300 with no MOT and a rotten chassis. Thing is its got an Isuzu 2.5 na diesel engine fitted to it, mine has a 2.5 na Transit engine. Which would be the better engine? I'd be looking to transfer the the Isuzu engine to mine. Does it all sound worth the money?

you need to consider the cost and availability of spares for both engines, as well as which one is 'better'.
and define 'better'. more economical? more powerful? more refined?

Go for the 2.25 petrol then tune it

Leslie Henson:
I only have experience of the transit engine in a s3 and in my opinion it's not suitable. There's no doubt jap engines are in the main very good. I would service the Isuzu lump and fit it.
