v8 into a 1977 series 3

(1/2) > >>

theemike:
hi im thinkin of buying a 1977 series 3, 2 1/4 diesel that needs an engine rebuild but instead of rebuilding the 2 1/4 i was thinkin of puttin a 3.5l v8 carb model engine in it any ideas of how simple this would be and the main modifications to the truck i need to perform cheers, mike :D

great idea, get it done :D

mine was a git. but thats because i used a RRC gearbox. if you use the series gearbox ( with an adapter plate) its not to bad, well worth doing.

themike - do it, I have a ford 3l v6, though if I was changing the engine, it would probably be for a v8!!

Mark - nice engine bay, looks a lot roomier than mine does, maybe it's the yello paint? Love the horn, does it go awooga?

Rich_P:
You need to remove a bit of metalwork from the passenger footwell to clear the nearside exhaust manifold on the Rover V8.  Otherwise the rest you can buy off-the-shelf parts to do the conversion.
