Brother Rose and his dribble...
Guardian.:
a standard 4x4 doesnt have a much bigger footprint than the average family car, not much bigger at all, and if we go onto luxury cars i darebet an s class or 7 series has at least the footprint of most! 4x4s.
why do they moan about a mum and 4x4 with kids in ,when i bet they wouldnt say anything to a mum and 1 child in a fiesta or something.
the fact is it is your right to drive what you like as long as you have the relevant legal requirement, tax, mot, insurance etc.
i cannot wait for the day one of them monkeys say somit to me, or stick a ticket on my motor, and int that a gross waste of paper!!!!!!!!!
or is cutting down loads of trees for fake tickets aloud in the environmental world.

What a load of utter rubbish! This person is supposed to be a teacher? No wonder the education of the nation is so bad :(
I'm off to buy an 8litre Yankee sports car then - it's obviously better for the environment ....

I don't live anywhere near Bristol but this sort of shallow minded attitude some folk have towards others who just drive a 'bigger' car pi$$ses me right off, we should all start a campaign ourselves not to victimise against our own choice of vehicle, the only reason that they are against them is because they probably can't drive them!! My 22 year old Porsche 944 probably spews out more 'environmentally unfreindly' gasses than my disco but nobody complains about that!!

One of hte biggest problems is that American "SUVs" are quite possibly a problem, but then again they're also huge and on the whole not available in the UK. Watch an episode of smallville and you'll see the point, some of those vehicles could probably take a 90 in the boot, they had a discocvery next to one in one show, and the discovery was dwarfed.
If you take the statistics for those vehicles you probably would be able to prove just about anything you like, for example I dare say the pedestrian safety of a challenger tank i slower than a micras (and probably still better than an audi A2 ;))
Standards of eductation asside, most[1] of the teachers I know are several cabbages short of an allotment :)
then again, we live in a world where we're actively trying to reduce crime figures by not prosecuting people
[1] Most, not all, some are lovely .. (hedging my bets here :))

When Clarkson had his new GT40, the GT40's average fuel consumption was four miles to the gallon...
Then, when he tested the H2, it did 5mpg typically. When he put his foot down and used just a bit of the power available the computer display changed to gallons to the mile.
