White spokes, tube or no tube

Got some 2nd hand 16" white spokes, not the tidiest of wheels, but look OK with a bit of paint slapped on....anyhow

When I got them they had tubes in but shot tyres, have put Macho's on and left the tube in, Garaged advised they should have tubes but I'm not sure, and not too sure they knew really.
Did I need to or will they run fine without the tube?

Although I like the idea of being able to fix a puncture with a tube

I'm running 15" white 8 spokes with no tubes, have done ever
since i bought them new 7 years ago.

And I run tubes on 8-spokes on the racer.

Somtimes running with tubes can cause more punctures , if the tyre spins on the rim it can rip the valve area.

if you run without tubes it dont matter.

Might pay to have them removed then  :wink:
